About JEE Advanced 2025

JEE Advanced is the second stage of the JEE examination system for admission to prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, and other top engineering institutes. Eligibility Criteria

JEE Advanced 2025 Eligibility Criteria

Performance in JEE Main 2025:

  • Must be among top 2.5 lakh candidates in JEE Main (including all categories)
  • Category-wise distribution: General (10,000), EWS (2,500), OBC-NCL (6,750), SC (3,750), ST (1,875), PwD (1,250)

Age Limit:

  • General/EWS/OBC-NCL: Born on or after October 1, 2000
  • SC/ST/PwD: 5 years relaxation (born on or after October 1, 1995)

Number of Attempts:

  • Maximum 2 attempts in consecutive years
  • Must be in top 2.5 lakh in JEE Main for each attempt

Educational Qualification:

  • Passed Class 12 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics
  • Minimum 75% marks in 12th (65% for SC/ST) OR be in top 20 percentile of respective board
  • Final year students can appear (admission subject to result)
Important: Even if you clear JEE Advanced, you must meet 12th board percentage criteria for IIT admission!
Syllabus

JEE Advanced 2025 Syllabus

JEE Advanced syllabus is more advanced than JEE Main, requiring deeper conceptual understanding and mathematical rigour. Topics are from Class 11 and 12 NCERT but questions test application at much higher level.

Physics:

  • Mechanics: Kinematics, Newton's Laws, Work-Energy-Power, Rotational Dynamics, Gravitation
  • Thermal Physics: Thermodynamics, Kinetic Theory, Heat Transfer
  • Electricity & Magnetism: Electrostatics, Capacitance, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effects, EM Induction, AC Circuits
  • Optics: Ray Optics, Wave Optics, Interference, Diffraction, Polarization
  • Modern Physics: Photoelectric Effect, Bohr Model, X-rays, Radioactivity, Nuclear Physics

Chemistry:

  • Physical Chemistry: Atomic Structure, Chemical Bonding, Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics
  • Inorganic Chemistry: Periodic Table, s-p-d-f Block Elements, Coordination Compounds, Metallurgy
  • Organic Chemistry: GOC, Hydrocarbons, Haloalkanes, Alcohols, Aldehydes, Ketones, Carboxylic Acids, Aromatic Compounds

Mathematics:

  • Algebra: Complex Numbers, Quadratic Equations, Sequences & Series, Binomial Theorem, Permutations & Combinations, Matrices & Determinants
  • Trigonometry: Ratios, Identities, Equations, Inverse Functions
  • Calculus: Limits, Continuity, Differentiation, Applications of Derivatives, Integration, Definite Integrals, Differential Equations
  • Coordinate Geometry: Straight Lines, Circles, Parabola, Ellipse, Hyperbola
  • Vectors & 3D Geometry: Vector Algebra, 3D Lines & Planes
Difficulty Level: JEE Advanced questions are significantly tougher than JEE Main. Expect multi-concept questions, tricky calculations, and limited time!

JEE Advanced consists of TWO compulsory papers - Paper 1 and Paper 2, each of 3 hours duration. BOTH papers are mandatory for ranking.
